Methods of Instruction

This is a 3-credit hour course. Normally, a 3-credit hour course would meet two times each week (during a 16 week term) for a total of 3 hours per week or 48 hours per term. In this class, we will meet online only.  You will engage in structured out-of-class online activities.

Be prepared to work and learn about yourself and enhance your college experiences.

Course activities may include Journals, DIscussionsGroup Work, Assignmentsand/or Assessments.
  • In the first week of class you will be taking a Self-Assessment which will show you your strengths and weakneses.  This will start you on course to becoming the college student you want to be.  You'll have the opportunity to work on both your strengths and weaknesses throughout this semester.
  • In your Journal, you will explore your thoughts and feelings.  You will find out what you are learning about yourself as a college student, and what changes you can make to become successful in college and in life.
  • Discussions give students the chance to "talk" to each other about different topics that are covered.  Think of a Discussion as a conversation with your classmate friends.  DIscussions give you the opportunity to share and learn from each other.
  • There will be 4-5 Assignments worth 100 points each. These may include, but are not limited to the following:  students will develop an educational plan, research a desired career, use time management skills to organize your week, find out your learning style, and reflect on what you have learned in this class. You will have two weeks to complete most of the Assignments.
  • Assessments are tests, quizzes, surveys and/or self-tests. These may be given periodically throughout the semester.
A journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step.
